Robert Munch wrote a book about his mother in a children’s book called Love You Forever, you’ve probably read it. A mother held a newborn baby, very slowly rocked him back and forth and back and forth, and as she did she sang, “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.” And he grew and he grew, and at two he ran around the house and pulled books off the shelves, and he grew and he grew, and became a teenager, and then he wore strange clothes and listened to strange music, and his mother sang, “I’ll love you forever, I’ll love you for always, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.” And he grew and he grew and he became a grownup adult and left home and he got a house of his own and his mother remembered when she held him. She remembered her words, “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always…” Robert remembers his mother, how she loved him and held him.
Robert Munch thought of his mother…She got old. One day she called up and said, “You’d better come see me, I’m very sick and old.” So he came in the door and she tried to sing the song. She sang, “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always…” but she couldn’t finish, she was too old and sick. And he went to his mother and picked her up and rocked her back and forth and back and forth and back and forth, and he sang the song, “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, my Mommy you’ll be.”
I ask God’s blessings on all our mothers, those who have gone to God and those still with us as well as grandmothers, godmothers, single mothers and all who mother us even now with their love and their song.

"CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE ROLE OF RELIGION,"
Fr. Rayappa A. Kasi, of Vellore, India will deliver a talk on "Climate Change and the Role of Religion," at St. Patrick Church., Stoneham, on May 10, 2010 at 7:30 PM. The public is invited and there is no admission charge.
Fr. Rayappa has been a Catholic priest for 28 years, serving the poor of southern India for most of that time. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Philosophy in India, and a Master's Degree in Theology from the College of Propaganda Fide in Rome. He became committed to the defense of life in all its forms after reading "The Diversity of Life" by Edward O. Wilson, the Harvard biologist.
Fr. Rayappa's understanding of our duty to protect the environment draws on insights that he finds in Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Islam. Nevertheless, he believes that only the Catholic Church, with its two billion members world-wide, has the strength and authority to bring about a change in a way that the human race treats the Earth.
Fr. Rayappa's talk will last 45 minutes and will be followed by a brief question and answer period. Copies of his book about the environmental crisis, "The Lost Paradise of Happiness," will also be available for purchase.

Mother's Day Humor
Things I learned from my children!
If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.
A 3 year-old's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.
If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42-pound boy wearing Batman underwear and a superman cape. It is strong enough however to spread paint on all four walls of a 20 by 20 foot room.
You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on.
When using the ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.
Fontbonne Academy
In response to recent teen-related bullying news stories, Fontbonne Academy is offering an evening to the public to help understand anxiety in teens. Fontbonne will be hosting an evening with author Erin Munroe on Wednesday May 12, at 7 p.m. Ms. Munroe is the author of The Everything Guide to Step-parenting: Practical, reassuring advice for creating healthy, long-lasting relationships and the upcoming books When Big Issues Happen to Little Girls and Anxiety Workbook for Girls. “AGING across Judaism, Christianity and Buddhism”
presented by Youville Place Assisted Living
We invite you to join us for a unique series in May, which explores aging across three important religious experiences. Deepen your spiritual understanding, and consider the traditions associated with aging from the perspective of these three different religious and spiritual practices. The programs will be held on the following Mondays, May 10th, 17th & 24th at 7:00pm, Youville Place Assisted Living, 10 Pelham Rd., Lexington. Please RSVP to Lisa Yarin info@youvilleplace.org or call 781-861-3535.
Each session will begin with an overview of aging as presented in the religious tradition or spiritual practice highlighted. There will be time for discussion. Come to learn how aging is viewed in a spiritual context across these religious traditions, and grow as you open yourself to concepts and beliefs that have been revered through the ages.
Monday, May 10 – “Judaism” presented by Rabbi Judith Kummer
Monday, May 17 – “Christianity” presented by Bob Weber, Ph.D.
Monday, May 24 – “Buddhism” presented by Christine Aquilino, M.S.W.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to Billy Robinson, our Young Adult Coordinator! Billy received the Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati Award from the Archdiocese of Boston last Friday evening at Lombardo’s in Randolph. This award is given to a person who best portrays a young adult who wants to make a concrete contribution to the spiritual renewal of our world, which sometimes seems to be falling apart and wasting away because of a lack of ideals.
Pier Giorgio Frassati was beatified on May 20 1990 by Pope John Paul the II. He dedicated his life to the young people of the day helping them to lead a spiritual life following the beatitudes. Entirely immersed in the mystery of God and totally dedicated to the constant service of his neighbor: thus we can sum up Blessed Pier’s earthly life!

SUNDAY HOSPITALITY AT ST. BRIGID
Today is the final “Hospitality-after-the-9”of the year. We are starting our summer break a bit early because renovations to Keilty Hall and the kitchen begin this week.
The Hospitality Team wishes to thank all who make this such a nice community event each week: food and beverage contributors, cash donors, clean-up helpers and, of course, our loyal patrons. We will see you all next fall in our newly renovated digs!
ST. BRIGID RENOVATION PROJECT GETS UNDERWAY!
The project to add an elevator to the church building and accessible restrooms in the hall; to expand and improve handicapped seating in the church and handicapped parking; and to remodel the kitchen and Keilty Hall begins this week!
The first step in this multi-month project is the removal of the floor tiles and pipe insulation in Keilty Hall and the kitchen, abatement of all asbestos in the tile adhesive and insulation, and installation of new tiles and insulation. Keilty Hall and the kitchen will be sealed off and inaccessible during the two weeks of this work. As a result, the only access to the restrooms and the Music Room will be via the stairway on the east side of the building. The church will still be accessible through the front doors and both side doors.
Updates on this project, including building accessibility and safety issues during construction, will be provided weekly in this section of the bulletin.
Children's Worship
Today is the final Children’s Liturgy of the Word of the year. We are ending a month early because renovations to the hall start this week. Join us again next fall when CLW returns to an updated and remodeled Keilty Hall!
